The Golden Series by Kathryn Celeste 💗 Series Tour & eBook Giveaway 💗 (Shapeshifter Romance)

Rourke is a unicorn shape shifter and a virgin. Sent back from Alter Earth to rescue the paranormal beings who were left behind when magic left this world he is forced to confront the fact that unicorns seem to have vanished from the world.
Kaitlyn is a veterinarian with healing abilities. Unaware of the origin of her gifts she tries to live life under the radar.
Then she meets Rourke. For the first time in her life sparks fly. But Rourke has his own secrets of his own. Secrets that threaten to turn Kaitlyns world upside down.
Hunted by those who fear their gifts will Rourke and Kaitlyn be able to overcome everything trying to tear them apart? Or in the end will the hunters steal the choice from them?

Wrapped in a golden shimmer of power the lone woman stood still among the rush of creatures eager to escape the hunters. As each neared her position a flare of raw power reached out to caress them until they vanished. A handsome black unicorn, horn gleaming onyx in the sunlight, sides flecked with sweat, pulled up hard before her.
“Rourke.” She said reaching a hand out to him. Speaking directly into her mind Rourke said;
They come.
Nodding she reached out with her power and with a gentle caress, sent him through the portal to safety on a new world.
The humans approach, hurry!
Flexing her powers she reached out to envelop the approaching beings, transporting them to her side, then beyond the shift in reality to Alter Earth.
Return now!! She yelled through the common mental link. They are nearly on us.
Shattering the peace of the grove humans burst into the clearing firing arrows into those who fled before them. Only to watch each arrow drop to the ground without finding its mark. One by one the paranormal creatures disappeared before the human hunters’ eyes. As they watched, the golden power expanded outward, away from the proud, lone woman until only a faint haze remained in the air.
One young hunter notched an arrow and sent it flying towards her heart. As it found its mark she screamed, an eerie banshee-like sound that had the hunters covering their ears in distress. A mental cry traveled weakly along the communal connection as she fell backwards towards a deep, still pool.
I will return for you. Believe. Survive.
Her powers snapped back in a tsunami of wind and debris, toppling the hunters. The collapsing portal cushioned her fall on the fragrant green grass of Alter Earth.

A year ago David met his mate. It should have been the happiest day of his life. Instead, it was the worst. Emma ran from him. Only his ability to touch her mind keeps him sane but how long will that be enough?

Hunted and alone Emma hasn’t stopped running since she left Haven. David’s presence in her mind brings her comfort in the hardest times. When she returns to Haven will Emma be able to face David in person or will fear keep them apart?

With hunters after David and Emma’s ex stalking her is there any way this mating stands a chance?

Heart pounding Emma stood behind the door as terror threatened to overwhelm her. He’d found her. She didn’t know how but that bastard ex of hers had found her and now she was going to die.
Sliding down the wall Emma wrapped her arms around her knees fighting back a whimper. The door rattled again as he tried to gain access to her room. Emma flinched away then froze watching the knob intently.
“Keith, wrong room!” A voice called from outside. “Crap man you are really fucked up aren’t you? You’ve gotta lay off the hard stuff.” As the voice faded away Emma gasped for air. A mistake, it was just a mistake.
Emma? A voice in her mind, gravelly in the sexiest of ways.
“Not now David,” Emma snapped opening eyes she hadn’t even been aware she’d closed.
Just making sure you are okay. An adrenaline spike just echoed through our connection. David’s voice echoed in Emma’s mind. After a year of him popping in and out of her mind it no longer shocked her.
“Just peachy. I saw a mouse okay! God. If you want me to show up for this wedding you are going to have to take a step back.” Trembles shook Emma’s entire body. She was so confused. Part of her shook in terror whenever she thought about returning to Madison for Kaitlyn and Rourke’s wedding. It meant she’d have to face David. The last time she saw him that hadn’t worked out so well for her. The other part of her melted at the sound of his voice in her head. The wicked things this man said to her could make Emma orgasm without a single touch. That was the problem though, the touching.
“I’m not yours David. Claiming it doesn’t make it so. You can back the hell off anytime now.” Emma said renewed terror causing her teeth to chatter as she rubbed her hands over her face.
No love, you aren’t and that’s my fault. But I am yours. David’s reply caused Emma’s heart and stomach to clench as her terror eased under a wave of lust.

Interview with Rourke(pre-Unicorn Gold)

Kathryn:-So a Unicorn huh?

Rourke:-Yep

Kathryn:-Not a white unicorn either?

Rourke:-Is that a question? Nope, I’m black. Everyone knows black unicorns are better I can phase almost invisible. Those poor white bastards stand out like a sun in the forest. Probably why they get hunted so much.

Kathryn:-So you don’t look like a my little pony unicorn then?

Rourke:-I’m pretty sure my legs are longer than theirs.

Kathryn:-So the burning question on everyones mind…do you poop skittles?

Rourke:-What the hell?

Kathryn:-Is that a no?

Rourke:-Of course it’s a no. Skittles didn’t even exist when I was born.

Kathryn:-Oh. So what candy do you poop then?

Rourke:-… No candy. Just poop.

Kathryn:-So does that mean you don’t fart rainbows either?

Rourke:-Where do you get your information about unicorns? Honestly! Wait, do you fart rainbows? Is it like a human thing I haven’t noticed before?

Kathryn:-Well no

Rourke:-Do you ask everyone about their bodily functions when you interview them?

Kathryn:-I would if I thought they might fart rainbows and poop candy!

Rourke:-Fair call.

Kathryn:-So you’re single?

Rourke:-Well duh.

Kathryn:-How on earth did you manage that?

Rourke:-I’m a unicorn.

Kathryn:-Yes we’ve established that. We’ve moved on to the question on your relationship status.

Rourke:-I mean I’m single because I’m a unicorn. Until I find my mate I don’t feel sexual desire. Dating seems kind of pointless when you know right away if a woman is your mate.

Kathryn:-I guess so. Do you go out looking to try and find your mate?

Rourke:-No. I figure my mate is long dead. I’m a little out of time you know. I mean if a woman was fated to be mine then she would have been born in my life time right?

Kathryn:-You’d think so yes.

Rourke:-Well my natural life time would have ended some time ago.

Kathryn:-Oh. I’m so sorry.

Rourke:-It is what it is.

Kathryn:-I guess that brings us to Golden. What can you tell me about her?

Rourke:-Not much. She seems young and tiny but don’t ever make the mistake of thinking she’s powerless. The woman tore the world in two just so she could make a safe space for the paranormals to escape the humans.

Kathryn:-If she did that and you are quite clearly paranormal then why are you on Earth?

Rourke:-She sent us. Not all the paranormals made it to Alter Earth when she made the shift. We’re the rescue crew come to gather up those who were left behind.

Kathryn:-Why do they need a rescue?

Rourke:-I’m sorry to say but the answer is humans.

Kathryn:-Humans?

Rourke:-Human hunters to be exact. Something happened. We’re not quite sure what, it turned the humans against us. They started hunting us in force. We tried hiding amongst you. Golden even gave everyone human forms so we could try to mingle but the hunters had a way of figuring out who we were. We tried running and hiding but in the end we couldn’t hide well enough. Golden moved out everyone she could until she was wounded.

Kathryn:-She does seem very powerful.

Rourke:-She is.

Kathryn:-So did you come looking for other unicorns?

Rourke:-It would have been nice. We know there were some left behind but we haven’t been able to find any yet. I’ve found things made out of horns and a couple of unicorn horns that are labeled as narwhale horns in the museums but none attached to a unicorn.

Kathryn:-You think they’d notice the horns had healing powers or something.

Rourke:-They don’t unless they are still attached to a unicorn. It’s more a focus than a separate magical artifact.

Kathryn:-Oh. So you’re better off making friends with a unicorn and asking them to heal you than trying to kill one?

Rourke:-Sure, and I hope you spread the word about that. There aren’t that many of us left we can’t afford to have folks killing us off for no reason.

Kathryn:-Yeah I can do that for you.

Rourke:-Thanks

Kathryn:-No worries. You keep saying we, do you mean there are more of you? I thought unicorns were rare.

Rourke:-Unicorns are rare. There are other paranormals at Haven. Others who came through the shift with me.

Kathryn:-If they aren’t unicorns then what are they?

Rourke:-Offhand? We have an alicorn, a dragon, a wolf shifter, a dryad just to name a few. I’m sure as you wander around Haven they’ll make themselves known.

Kathryn:-So you are going to let me just wander around?

Rourke:-Sure. You wouldn’t be here if you didn’t belong here. We’re really big on fate.

Kathryn:-Thank you for taking the time to talk to me today Rourke.

Rourke:-You’re welcome.
