A WARRIOR TOO ELUSIVE TO CAPTURE He is a Scottish Laird who lives in a world of Druid magic and ancient customs, hand fasted to the sister of his rival clan, MacDougall. Alasdair thought he was doing the right thing trying to bring peace to the region. But he is murdered on the eve of his wedding. Not willing to accept his death, his mother, a Druid priestess, performs a geas to keep him alive. But something went awry because, as the last word of the geas was spoken, Alasdair is trapped in time where he wanders the earth for centuries. The only one who can bring him back home is his betrothed. He has given up on ever finding her until she walks into his office in twentieth century Manhattan. A WOMAN TOO STRONG WILLED TO TAME Coira Ainsley is a happy-go-lucky young woman living in twenty-first century Manhattan. Her job as a travel agent takes her all over. She loves the work she does and is excellent at it. That is until she follows her client into his office and finds herself in the fourteenth century at Inveraray Keep in the Highlands of Scotland. At first, Coira thinks a prank is being played on her until she sees the giant, wearing nothing but a kilt and a studded leather strap across his massive chest approach her. Not one given to swooning, Coira finds herself welcoming the darkness that come over her as she loses consciousness, without learning that the naked giant is her betrothed from another time… another place. Will she give in and accept what has been pre-destined or will she fight to get back to the life she knows and loves? |
Fighting alongside his two brothers, Garvin Campbell of Clan Campbell is content to remain in the shadows. After all, he’s lived most of his adult life as a Knight Templar, and that requires him being in the shadows, not seen or heard. “Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed Nomini tuo da gloriam; (Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy Name, give glory).” That was the rule of the Templars until they were forced to disband at the request of King Philip IV "the Fair" of France. Many of the Order's members in France were arrested and tortured. However, Scotland did not get involved in the arrests and prosecution of the Knights. There was no recognized king of the Scots, and with the Bruce having already been excommunicated, the Roman church had little say in Scottish politics, so Garvin returned to his clan to use his skills in the fight against the English for Scottish independence. Having been told all her life to avoid the Campbells, the last thing Lady Helen is thinking about is falling in love with a Campbell, and a Knight Templar at that. She is aware the Templar Knight has taken a vow of abstinence, so when Garvin Campbell comes to her clan to deliver the decree from Robert the Bruce, Helen is unprepared for the connection she immediately feels for the knight. She dismisses it as butterflies at meeting a knight, but fate has other plans for her and Garvin, as he becomes her reason for living and he forgoes his training of remaining in the shadows as he surrenders to love. Something in his stance must have alerted her to the trouble she could be in, and she opened her mouth. Garvin didn’t know what she intended to do. He covered her mouth with his in a kiss that was as hungry as it was desperate. After a good minute, he withdrew his lips and stared into her eyes. He wasn’t surprised to see her staring back at him, her beautiful blue eyes as round as saucers. He had frightened her. “Let me go, sir,” she whispered. For long minutes, Garvin fought the sexual hunger her closeness provoked. The strength of his reaction left him speechless. She was so beautiful, so reckless, her passionate spirit cried out to him. Not wanting her to fear him, he moved away. She remained standing in the same spot a good minute before she ran to her horse and mounted with one leap. She took off with the same reckless abandonment she had displayed when she had arrived. The fates help me, he wanted her so badly it almost brought him to his knees. |
Tristan (Tris) Campbell accepts the fact that his brother came back to them from the land of the fae. He accepts that life in the Highlands with his clan is fraught with strife and danger… that they will be forever warring with opposing clans for Scottish independence. What he doesn’t expect is that, like his brother Alasdair, he, too, will travel through time to find his one true love, Lady Brianne O’Connor. Lady Brianne O’Connor has vowed never to take a husband, and as she is her father’s only child and heir, he does not dissuade her but allows her to live as she pleases. After her new husband is murdered, or so she thinks, she takes to unexplainable weeping, spending all her days and nights in her bedchamber at Kilchurn Castle mourning him. That is the only place in which she feels safe… the only room where she can be with the love of her life. She is torn with grief by his untimely death. Tristan comes upon a woman in a vision, and now he must find a way to connect with her… a woman he is convinced he knows but, for the life of him, can’t recall from where. Bent on finding the woman who stirs his senses like no other, Tris will not rest until he can feel her in his arms again…. Will he succeed? Will Lady Brianne’s mourning finally be over? She was lying in bed at Kilchurn Castle waiting for sleep to claim her when the warrior entered her room. He was naked as he had been on the shore of the loch. He blew out the candles and climbed into bed with her and proceeded to take her into his arms. She pulled away and relit the candles. “You should not be in my bedchambers, Warrior.” “Why not? We are soon to be man and wife, and how else are we to get to know each other intimately?” “We are not yet man and wife, and you move too fast.” Once again he took her into his arms and looked down at her lips hungrily. Then he claimed her mouth. Brianne did not resist the kiss but surrendered her lips to him, yielding to his masterful arms and mouth, determined to understand the feelings he evoked in her. She kissed him back with just as much as fervor as he had kissed her. She was enjoying this immensely. It made her feel as if any minute she would fly away from her bed. She was preparing herself to take flight when a voice interrupted her pleasure. “Open your eyes, Brianne. I want you to see whose kisses ye are enjoying.” Brianne wasn’t aware that her eyes were closed. But they flew open immediately at the sound of his voice. “Warrior! How dare you invade my dream?” “I dare because ye are mine.” “I am not yours, Warrior. I belong to no man.” “Ye are. I have already claimed ye.” |
As a writer, what would you choose as your mascot/avatar/spirit animal?
As a writer or otherwise, I identify with the bald eagle. I love the eagle and everything it represents. Strength, strong character, leadership and power. To me watching a bald eagle soaring across the sky is poetry in motion. If I in a location where I can observe it swooping to catch a fish in its powerful before soaring back up, is a sight to behold. Also, to watch the courtship of two eagles in the air, it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before. So, for me, yes, the American Bald Eagle is my spirit animal.
Do you have a favorite movie?
Without a doubt, my favorite movie is Legends of the Fall. I love, love, love that movie. I love everything about that movie, but I especially like, Brad Pitt. To me he epitomizes everything I would have liked my first love to be like. I know if I had been so lucky, he would have ruined me for any other.
What inspired you to write this book?
I always loved historical romance, and prior to writing this book, I had written the character in the first book in the trilogy. Only in that book, he didn’t have much of a role other that of the younger brother, but his character so impressed the readers that everyone was requesting that I gave him his story. I had a bit of a problem, you see, I never set out to write a trilogy, when I wrote the first book. I wrote a standalone. I had to revamp the book slightly, then write the story of the oldest brother before I could write the story of the youngest. It took some creative imagination on my part, but gradually, Tristan’s story unfolded and took shape, which resulted in HIS FOR THE CLAIMING.
What did you enjoy most about writing this book?
I enjoyed doing the research that was involved in writing this book. I love the setting, the people, they practice and customs. I fell so deeply in love with the highlands, I truly intend to take a trip there the first set of extra funds I have. I want on the soil my characters walked on, bathe in the waters of the lochs they bathed and swam in. I even want to eat some of the same meals they ate, fish and all.

ReplyDeleteHonestly, I'm not a fan of the cover. I would have prefer it to be an actual person, inside of something resembling a cartoon.
ReplyDeleteI must say I cannot take this book seriously because of the unusual artist styling of the man on the cover.
