An Inconvenient Plan by Kylie Gilmore πŸ’• Review, Free eBook & Gift Card Giveaway πŸ’• (Contemporary Romance)

Hailey Adams’s strategy for a hugely successful wedding planning business is finally paying off, and now it’s time to focus on her own happy ending. After a stinging rejection from her sexy frenemy, Josh Campbell, a prince falls into her lap. And he’s a swoony, romantic contrast to the gruff bartender she can’t seem to quit.

Josh’s plan to keep his distance from Hailey is derailed when competition shows up in the form of a playboy prince. It’s one damn inconvenience after another as Josh has to show up a prince, win over Hailey’s rat-dog who hates him, and get Hailey to stop fighting with him long enough to see they belong together. Impossible woman!

Can these longtime frenemies let down their defenses in time to discover their own happy ending? Or will Hailey be swept off her feet by a fairy tale come true?

WOW was that worth waiting for!

As I've said before in my reviews for this series, Kylie is an evil genius; she introduced me to Josh and Hailey in book 1 and slllllllllowwwwlllly drew out the tension simmering between them OVER 9 BOOKS. But it seriously didn't make me mad. I was, like, chomping at the bit, craving any interaction between them. And THEN, she makes me wait until book 10 to see what happens with them! AND I LOVED IT. Evil. Genius.

I saw a very different side to Josh than in previous books. And he tried so hard to be the man he wanted to be and that Hailey wanted him to be.

And THEN, a real-life Prince Charming shows up, goes after Hailey and gives Josh a run for his money.

This was just one of those books (and series) that made me want to move to Clover Park and join the book club and be best friends with everyone. But at the same time, the heat level in these feel-good books is off the charts! It's like a perfect balance.

I know one book is left in the series, and I am SO excited to see what Kylie writes next!

She’s on top…

When superstar actress Claire Jordan researched her role for the Fierce Trilogy movies, she never expected the bond she feels with the author and her romance book club aka The Happy Endings Book Club. Soon Claire finds herself confessing her secret longing for a regular guy—no more egocentric wealthy players—and the book club is all too ready to help. In disguise as a regular girl, she’s all set for a date with book-club-approved Josh Campbell.

He’s on top…

Billionaire tech CEO Jake Campbell is weary of gold-digging women, especially the glamorous superficial types. So when his identical twin Josh calls in a favor asking Jake to step in as him on a date, Jake figures one of Josh’s cute girl-next-door types might be just what he needs. One night of passion with the sweet girl-next-door leaves Jake wanting more, except she seems to have vanished.

Sometimes a Happy Ending is just the beginning.
A PERFECT way to start this series!

I loved everything about this book. Everything. There are so many different personalities in here, and it still has that underlying "Kylie-humor" that I totally get and love.

As usual, I was sucked in from the beginning. Having read most of the previous series where most of these characters were introduced (though NOT necessary to enjoy this book), I couldn't wait to read what adventures awaited these book club ladies.

Kylie did not disappoint!

In the beginning, when Jake and Josh revealed what they were planning, I was ECSTATIC. I knew this was going to be some story, and I COULD NOT WAIT to see how it unfolded.

And then, when their plot was realized by those involved, the outcome was absolutely worth waiting for. While Claire and Jake get their Happily Ever After, Kylie left the door wiiiiiiide open for not only the next book, but the rest of the series. I don't know about you, but I'm in this one for the long haul!

A best friend's little sister romance...

Madison Campbell has worshipped her older brother’s best friend Parker Shaw for as long as she can remember. So the night before he leaves for the Air Force, she decides he’s leaving town with her virginity. All she has to do is transform her tomboy self into a sexy woman with a bit of borrowed makeup and some creative fashion choices. The results? One drunken kiss that Park doesn’t even remember.

Ten years later, no man has ever gotten close to her heart the way Park did. And now that he’s back, the very unfeminine Madison refuses to blow her second chance. But when her bold attempts to snag his attention (“Oops! Dropped my towel.”) fail miserably, she does something completely insane—she caves to a makeover from the meddling matchmaker in charge of The Happy Endings Book Club. Hey, Park, you want some of this? Madison is about to find out.
I'm SO happy Mad got her happy ending!

I was introduced to Mad in the previous book of the series (NOT necessary to have read that one to enjoy this one!), and I wasn't sure what to think of her. But this book shines a much more flattering light on her.

Park and Mad had a history, and the flashback at the beginning of the book sucked me right in and had me flying through the pages to see if and how these two got reunited.

I, personally, found Mad easy to relate to. At some point or another, haven't we all felt that we didn't quite fit in? I liked her adaptability and willingness to try the things the Happy Endings Book Club ladies suggested to help her snag Park.

This book is written in typical Kylie fashion, with plenty of steam, a storyline that flows steadily and juuuuuust enough humor to make it realistic. Like all of her other books, I absolutely LOVED it and can't wait to read more!!!

The last thing Charlotte Vega needs is a cocky HOT stuntman like Ty Campbell in her life. But when he pulls the ultimate stunt—a sexy romantic gesture that ends with a charming invitation to a sunset dinner cruise—she finds him impossible to resist. Cue disaster.

Their rocky first date goes from bad to worse when his yacht (okay, it’s actually borrowed and he’s only had one boating lesson) gets stranded in deep mud. Turns out there’s nothing Ty can do but wait hours and hours for high tide with no power, no way to cook dinner, and a hangry sexy-as-hell woman.

But Ty is determined to salvage the date so he starts a game to pass the time. Only what Ty learns makes him realize he may have just botched a date with the perfect woman. How will he ever win her now?
:::Wistful sigh::: The Ty Effect...

This book was a very low-stress, high-sweetness, what-you-see-is-what-you-get book. It's a perfect standalone addition to this series, and I absolutely loved it!

Admittedly, I wasn't sure about Charlotte from meeting her in previous books. She seemed a little standoffish to me. But I really got to know her, and her past, and I loved reading her emotional evolution, initiated by Ty. No one deserved this happy ending more than she did.

I have never read a sweeter hero than Ty. A fun, sexy stuntman with a ready smile and juuuust enough of a bad boy edge, he was great to read, and a perfect match for Char.

Wile this is a standalone series, there is an underlying, continuing, story of Hailey and Josh that I CAN'T WAIT to read! I mean, talk about smoldering angst and tension. Kylie is building up some SERIOUS heat between those two, and I am SO excited to see what happens!!!

I loved being able to catch up with many of the other characters I have met in Clover Park. So much so that I very well may go back and read them all over again :)

Lauren Bishop has her whole summer planned out—working as a nanny for a desperate single dad and finding the elusive Mr. Right. She even signed up for the local matchmaking guru’s Make Love Bloom (TM) service, end of summer guarantee! But somehow her plans got derailed because now she finds herself longing for her emotionally unavailable employer.

When his two-year-old’s molars turn his little sunshine into a demon from hell, single dad Alex Campbell finds himself longing for the simpler days of teddy bear picnics. This is a parenting nightmare! Then sweet Lauren drops into their life like an angel sent from above. Alex doesn’t do relationships, which is why he turns down every woman who comes his way, but he can’t afford to lose this nanny. Can he convince her to stay even though she’s looking for the one thing he can’t give her?
My new favorite book in this series!!!!

As I've come to expect from Kylie, this book was extremely well-written, SMOKING HOT and sprinkled with laugh-out-loud moments . The characters were realistic and acted and spoke accordingly. I started this book and the next time I looked up it was four hours later and I hadn't even noticed! I was completely engrossed in the story.

Now normally I'm not a fan of children in romances. Sometimes they aren't written well and subtract rather than add to the story. THIS child, however, was absolutely adorably hilarious and very well done.

Another aspect I usually don't like reading about is the deceased significant other. But again, Kylie brilliantly used this dark spot to create a brightness that gave me n excellent sense of closure.

Overall, I REALLY really really liked this story. I felt it was very well-rounded and, in my opinion, the best of the series so far.

As a side note, similar to the other books in this series, Hailey and Josh continue to have their battle of wills. I am DYING to read their story, and Kylie does an excellent job of stringing me along with hot looks from Josh that hold the promise to rock Hailey's world. Can't Wait!!!

Good girl nurse Carrie Young only has to catch one glimpse of bad boy Zach Harrison with his wild hair, full beard, and hooded eyes to know he’s exactly what she needs to get over all those wasted years with a repressed and controlling ex. Full seduction ahead!

Only the next morning, her bad boy doesn’t disappear after having his wicked way with her and he’s making her breakfast! WTF (What the fudge)! Did she do the bad boy thing all wrong?

Zach’s no dummy. He knows a good thing when it falls into his lap. And if that means pretending to be a bad boy, he’s game. But how far will he go? And what happens when a game turns into something more?
Bad boy, indeed!

Kylie comes up with the best scenarios, especially for each book in this standalone series (but I think you'll enjoy the series better if you read them all!). She gives her characters backstories and throws them into situations that are absolutely delightful to read.

Poor Zach, caught in the right/wrong place at the right/wrong time, depending on how you look at it. He wanted to be what Carrie needed, but wasn't sure his lone-wolf nature would allow it.

Carrie didn't give up, that's for sure! She had a list...not a bucket list or a honey-do list, a more...specialized list. That whole situation made for some funny moments, for sure!

I got to read more about Josh and Hailey (CAN'T WAIT FOR THEIR BOOK!!!), and I'm VERY excited about Ally and Ethan's story! Given Ethan's "reputation," I just know that book is going to be fantastic!!!

Ally Bloom attends her college reunion on a mission—a second chance with her first love. Turns out he’s single and…not interested. Their love is doomed! But when Ethan Case, the sexy cop friend of a friend, finds her crying in her spiked punch, he invites her for coffee with his date. Knowing he’s taken and she doesn’t need to impress him, Ally blurts the entire sucky men saga that is her love life.

But wait! There he is at her Happy Endings Book Club meeting.
And pulling her over for speeding.
And in her classroom to talk to the kids about safety.
Is the man just messing with her or is this the beginning of something real?
ETHAN!!!!!!

I LOVED Ethan. He’s so refreshingly different from so many heroes these days in that he is NOT the typical “I’m a playboy and ain’t no one gonna tie me down,” but rather “I am ready and really wanting someone to settle down and spend my life with.” Oh and he’s a hot cop. So...yay Ethan!!!

Ally was a riot! I liked that she didn’t mind dirty humor and that she made a hardcore effort to care for herself first after suffering heartbreak.

This series is so fun to read, and OH MY GOSH I can’t wait for Josh and Hailey’s story! I’ve been given bits and pieces throughout the series, and things just got REALLY interesting!!!

Is fate playing matchmaker?

Missy Higgins isn’t looking for a man, yet everywhere she turns sexy Ben Wright pops up. A harmless flirtation, nothing more, until Ben wanders into the Christmas craft bazaar just as her horrible ex appears. It’s Ben to the rescue as her fake boyfriend with a scorching kiss that leaves her breathless and weak in the knees.

Mind. Blown. (Though she insists it’s a one-time thing).

But when Ben shows up just as she’s getting fired and offers her a holiday job she desperately needs, she has to wonder if fate might be telling her something. Like screw professional boundaries, give in to uncontrollable lust, and let a man into her heart. How can she resist fate when Ben is irresistible?
New. Favorite. Kylie book.

This was MY book. I loved absolutely EVERYTHING.

Ben was my kind of guy. He made no apologies for being who he was, and wasn't exactly looking for a relationship, but he didn't really fight it when it was glaringly obvious that one landed in his lap.

Or on his sweater, as it were.

I read about Missy in previous books, and I was SO happy that she would have her own story. She had been through some craziness, but it was just another sign pointing straight at Ben.

This is actually tied for my favorite Kylie book, Kissing Santa, but trust me when I say that both have perfect men, strong women and hilarious matchmakers bringing everything together.

Have I mentioned that I'm DYING to read Hailey and Josh's story? Start at book 1, people. You'll meet both of them and then follow their story as it slowly and deliciously unfolds throughout the series. Can't. Wait. !!!

When relationship counselor Sabrina Clarke gets a wedding invitation from the jerk who left her a jilted bride, she writes a scathing article on commitment-phobes that catapults her practice into the spotlight. But the publicity leads to unwelcome attention from a competitor who slams Sabrina for being single. And, hello, stupid mistakes! Sabrina panics in the middle of an interview and claims she’s in a relationship with the friend she secretly lusts for—Logan Campbell.

Steamed is an understatement when Logan’s long-distance relationship is derailed the moment Sabrina announces they’re a couple on TV. Way to throw him under the bus! The pressure’s on as Logan heads to California to repair his shaky relationship and navigate investor meetings for his tech company.

Sabrina knows she’s got to undo the damage, but when she meets the rotten cheating apple of Logan’s eye, she knows there’s only one thing for her to do…make another stupid mistake.
Kylie is ON FIRE with this series!!!

I LOVED the previous book. It's tied for my favorite Kylie book of all time. Now we have a three-way tie with THIS book. Holy. Cow. I tore through this. Couldn't put it down!

So the broken record part of this review is how awesome Kylie's writing style is. You won't find any grammar or spelling errors anywhere, and she injects a "real life" style humor that make these characters just wacky enough to remind you of someone you know.

But don't let the little chuckles here and there throw you; Kylie writes SMOKING HOT love scenes. I'm talking five-alarm. Add in plenty of "awwww!" moments and ya have yourself a Kylie book.

I liked the honesty between Logan and Sabrina. In the beginning, he didn't think she was right for him, so he didn't pursue her. Then things began to change, and I loved reading how Logan gradually began seeing Sabrina in a new light.

I also liked how I had a "villain" to hate! That's an aspect that, in my opinion, is glossed over in romance novels. Not this one! We had ourselves a jealous, scheming ex-girlfriend. While her appearance in the story was limited, I still loved hating her. :)

I also also liked how Sabrina was a strong, independent woman with a thriving counseling practice, her own home, etc. but she was still able to ask for help when she needed it. Or, rather, didn't ask for it even though she really did need it and Logan saw through her crap and helped her anyway.

I'm ECSTATIC for the next book! And then I'm going to be SUPER ecstatic for Josh and Hailey's book!!!!!!!

When event planner Lexi Judson finds herself unemployed and desperate for work, she approaches the last man she’d ever want to do business with: smoking hot Marcus Shepard, bar owner and legendary player. But desperate times call for networking with panty-melting man candy.

The good news? He says yes to hiring her for a fantastic event.

The bad news? The job comes with some incredibly uncomfortable strings.

Lexi thinks she can handle it, until Marcus changes the rules and asks for far more than she bargained for. The man is wicked, dangerous, unrelenting. The absolute worst.

He wants to romance her.

5 Non-Man-Hater Stars!

HUGE Kylie fan right here. I'm one of those "lifers" when it comes to her books; I will forever read whatever she writes. She has the perfect balance of smoking HOT, quirky, funny, dramatic. Jump in any series at any book and you'll be immersed in one of Kylie's small towns you'll want to move to and be best friends with every single character.

In this Happy Endings Book Club success story, I loved the dynamic between Lexi and Marcus. They each had preconceived notions of the other, and I thoroughly enjoyed as they discovered they may have been mistaken about the other.

I'm also a sucker for stories where the guy is not a player, not a wild stallion never gonna be tamed. Marcus wasn't opposed to finding love, and the fact that he was so open to the idea paved the way for some...shall we say, interesting wacky situations he put himself and Lexi into.

Most importantly, Hailey and Josh's story is coming next! I've been teased with their frenemy, tension-building interactions for nine books now, and I CANNOT WAIT to read their book. IT'S GOING TO BE EPIC!!!
