Of Love and Vengeance by Louise Lyndon 💕 Review, FREE Book Tour & Gift Card Giveaway 💕 (Historical Romance)

Forced to marry Lord Aymon to ensure her young nephews survival, English Lady Laila vows undying hatred for the Norman she holds responsible for the deaths of so many innocents. Discovering Aymon has committed an act of treason gives her the chance to seek vengeance he deserves. But can Laila let Aymon die at the hands of the king once she learns the truth?

A hardened Norman warrior, Lord Aymon has lived through atrocities no man ever should. With the invasion of England over, all he wants is a quiet life and a wife who will give him heirs and obey his every command. Instead, he finds himself wed to feisty and outspoken Laila. But when she learns the truth of his treasonous act, can Aymon count on her to keep his secret?

This story really pulled me in from the beginning, as it has the type of set-up that REALLY keeps me turning the pages; the reluctant relationship.

Laila (with no choice in the matter) enters into a marriage arrangement with Aymon, and he's really no too thriller with her, either. But reading how their relationship evolved and how they were forced to lean on each other kept me glued to the book!

The final conflict was gripping. Thank goodness this is a romance novel (which guarantees a happy ending), otherwise I would think that both Laila and Aymon were doomed. Still, knowing the relative outcome, the thrill of reading the action-and-adventure of what they had to go through to GET to the end was a nail-biter.

Louise did a fantastic job of writing the "love" between Laila and Aymon and I enjoyed reading the interactions they had. While the ending was not entirely what I expected, it seemed fitting given the time-period of the book. This was just an all-around fantastic historical romance!

Simon remained sitting. Without looking up he said, “You really do not know who or what your husband is, do you? You have fooled yourself in believing you are safe with him when in fact you are anything but safe. He is a dangerous and powerful man—”

“Simon, I—”

“He has royal blood coursing through his veins.” Simon looked up and Laila frowned. “You did not know? Your husband is the brother of the most ruthless man in England. Your husband is King William’s brother. Do you feel safer now?”

Her hands suddenly went cold and clammy. The hairs at the nape of her neck stood on end. Her shoulders tightened, and her limbs tingled. She wanted to pee.

“It changes nothing. In fact, it makes me more determined to keep you from killing him. My Gad, Simon! Do you think the king will let the murder of his brother go unpunished? Why would you bring such wrath to my doorstep? Why would you put Drake in danger?”

Simon laughed, but not humorously. “When you whore yourself to him tonight, ask him about the burn scar on his back. Ask him about Serena, his wife, and the fate of their child.”

“I am sure he will tell me in his own time.”

“He tied his wife to a chair, laid their baby daughter in her lap, and set them on fire. He stood and watched as they perished in the flames. He killed them because he no longer wished to be married and a daughter was of no use to him.”

Simon curled his lip. “But the fool did not escape in time and suffered burns himself.”

Beads of sweat dotted her upper lip. “You are just trying to panic me.”

Simon shook his head. “I have no reason to panic you. My revenge is against your husband. Not you. Laila, you and the babe are not safe with him. If you truly care about Drake, you will let me kill your husband.”

Aveline de Bondeville is on the run. Determined to keep out of the hands of the cruel Raimbaut de Blois she will do whatever it takes to stay alive. And so when she finds herself in the company of Troy de Gysborne she must quickly decide if she can trust him. But can she confess to murder knowing it would mean her certain death?

Troy de Gysborne did the unthinkable; he tore the bonds of brotherhood and left a path of destruction in his wake. And now Troy must face those he betrayed, including the father who long ago renounced him. But to confess to the crime he committed will cost him everything. Including Aveline. But can he remain silent if it means losing the woman he loves?

Another fantastic book in this series!

The story pulled me in from the beginning and I was definitely hooked. Louise has a real talent for storytelling and the book flowed smoothly from beginning to end.

Louise included one of my favorite romance-novel-scenarios; when the hero and heroine are forced to get married and then develop feelings for each other.

really liked Troy and his moral compass. Once he decided what his duty was, he stuck to it no matter the consequences.

Availine was progressive, given the time period, and that made for some interesting interactions with the other characters.

Throughout the book, I was teased with the secret Troy was keeping. Bits and pieces were revealed along the way, but it was NOTHING like what I thought it would be. Add in a jealous pseudo-husband from Aveline's past and that completes the formula that makes this incredible story!

I truly hope Louise writes more books in this series, because I want to read every single one!!!

Louise grew up in country Victoria, Australia, before moving to England, where for sixteen years she soaked up the vibrancy of London and the medieval history of England. She has since returned to Australia and now lives in Melbourne.

Her obsession with all things medieval continued upon her return and shortly after settling back in to Aussie life she wrote the first of the two Warriors In Love novels - Of Love and Vengeance (book 1), and Of Love and Betrayal (book 2).

Louise temporarily re-joined the 21st century with a soon to be released new series - Justice Served. Book 1 - Nowhere to Hide is scheduled for release in 2021.

Not yet ready to leave modern times Louise has started work on a new series, Shame Defy about rock gods and their journey to finding "the one". Book one is scheduled for release in 2022.
