Amber’s life sucks. Her ex got her thrown out of college, then fired from her job. When she’s hired for a mystery shopping assignment, she hopes this is exactly what she needs to kick-start her life and get her back on track.
Jaeger is all business when he hires Amber to check out the spa he’s purchasing. If she can help him prove that the venture will be a success, then he can build his own future, not the one his family has mapped out for him. Becoming attracted to his sexy spy isn’t part of the plan.
Amber can’t see how she fits into Jaeger’s world, and he’s too uptight to ever fit into hers. Circumstances bring them together, in bed and out, but when a secret from his upper-class life is revealed, Amber must decide if she can trust him. Or is her life going down in flames all over again?
What does a mystery shopper really do?
Good question! I did mystery shopping and had several different jobs. The most boring? Go to gas stations and take pictures of the bathrooms. Well, that wasn't quite the job but I had to rate all areas at the business and snap a photo if there was anything wrong. The most fun? Visit apartments and act like a potential renter. I would call and make sure I got the person that was supposed to be "shopped" and set up a time to meet them. They had to show me around the complex and convince me to rent an apartment there.
Even though I was living in a house with my man at the time I did this job, I remember those days of looking for the perfect apartment home, just for little old me. Kind of fun but kind of stressful too, since I was on a limited budget during that time in my life. I saw dirty places, noisy places and scary places I'd never want to even visit after dark let alone live there. The apartments I got to shop during my assignments ranged from low-end to fairly pricey, so I got to see a wide variety of living spaces. I really threw myself into the roll, trying to picture being single again and having all this space to myself (sweet!), but being all alone again, with no honey to cheer the place up (not so sweet).
In Don't Say No, I gave my heroine, Amber, a great mystery shopping assignment. She gets to visit the Bella Sun spa and get massages, facials, and nail services to evaluate the employees. How nice would that be! She still has to do the paperwork, like I had to for my assignments, but she does such a great job, she gets hired on. And then…well, order your copy of Don't Say No and find out.
Have you ever had a really weird but sort of cool job? Thanks so much for reading. I hope you enjoy Don't Say No.

They finished their meal and left the restaurant. Back in the parking lot at Bella Sun, Jaeger pulled up next to Amber's car and turned off the ignition. The slight sake buzz had him relaxed, and the desire to kiss her was almost overpowering, but he knew that would be the worst possible move right now. Much as he craved her sexually, he wanted her to work for him too. If he took her to bed, she would think he was just using her. Wouldn't she?
He realized she was staring at him.
“Earth to Jaeger.” She snapped her fingers near his face. “You're somewhere far away. What's going on there?”
Hell with it. He leaned over the console, cupped her head in his hand and pulled her to him.
She didn't move for a fraction of a second, then she responded, opening her lips and allowing his tongue to enter, chasing it with her own. It was like breathing in fire. She was hot and wild, her mouth every bit as delicious as he'd imagined.
Hours. He could spend hours doing this. His one hand remained on the back of her head and the other in his lap, though he longed to bring it to her throat and caress the soft skin there.

I love spas! Even as an employee at several, I've always enjoyed the relaxing, pampering atmosphere in a place that's designed to be all about feeling good. This book is a work of fiction and most of the craziness that went on at Bella Sun doesn't really happen at spas. Mostly. I like to think there's always a romance or two going on behind the scenes. I've also been a mystery shopper, though I never received spa treatments on any of my assignments. Some girls have all the luck!
I hope this book encouraged you to not only search for your own true love, but to follow your dreams, no matter how many setbacks you encounter.
