Best-selling NY Times Mystery Author He is in Brookhollow to finish his novel, the last thing he expected was to fall in love with the woman next door to his B & B. Favorite ‘Logan Moment’ in Falling for Leigh: “Okay, so the first line of dialogue is, ‘Don’t go down there.’” “Wait,” she (Leigh) interrupted. “What?” “Who’s saying this?” “The detective.” She frowned and pursed her lips. “What?” She hesitated, then shook her head. This was his book. “Nothing,” she said, typing in the dialogue. Logan held a hand out to stop her. “No, really, what?” He frowned, studying the words on the page. Leigh sighed. “Okay, it’s just that it doesn’t make sense.” “What doesn’t make sense?” “That the detective would say, ‘Don’t go down there.’ It’s kind of like telling a child, ‘Don’t look in the cupboard for a cookie.’ Of course they’re going to do it now, even if they hadn’t planned to.” “Exactly,” Logan said with a nod. “You want the bad guy to go downstairs? But in the next scene, that doesn’t work in the detective’s favor.” “Not in that scene, but eventually it will.” Logan reached for his notes and flipped ahead. “See, here.” He pointed to a scribbled paragraph, written diagonally across a length of cash register receipt. “Is this from the grocery store?” Leigh picked it up and turned it over. “Yes.” Logan took it from her and turned it back, scribbled side up. “See here, when the detective sneaks out of the basement through the door leading to the root cellar...” “Where did the root cellar come from?” Leigh frowned. “Chapter one—you didn’t read it.” “Oh. Okay.” “Can we continue now? Me doing the writing—you typing?” Logan asked with amusement. |

Blond hair, blue eyes Architect-owns Dawson Contracting Has been in love with his high school sweetheart-Victoria Mason forever. This holiday season, fate brings her home to Brookhollow and Luke is determined to make to remember how great life in the small town…life with him could be. Favorite ‘Luke Moment’ in The Trouble With Mistletoe: Shivering as a blast of cold rustled the thin football jersey, Victoria said, “No, Luke, wait.” He kept walking. “I love you.” He paused, then continued walking. “Didn’t you hear me?” she asked, running the few feet to catch up to him and grabbing his arm. “Yes, I heard you.” He removed her hand from his arm. Her heart sank. “And?” Did she dare hope he still wanted her, too? “That’s it?” “Yes.” That was huge. Luke shrugged. “So? I’ve loved you since the second grade and look where it’s gotten us. I wasn’t the one who left Brookhollow two weeks before our wedding. I’ve always love you enough to put us first. You were the one who chose your career—twice.” “If that’s true why didn’t you fight for us?” Victoria demanded. “I may have left Brookhollow, but you didn’t try to stop me.” She rubbed her chilled arms for heat. “Would it have worked?” he challenged her. She hesitated. “I don’t know.” “I do,” Luke said, moving toward her. “You see, I’ve finally learned that there’s no point chasing something already gone. Even if you’d stayed, your dream was New York.” |
You can't say no to a mistletoe kiss, no matter who's under it!
Since leaving Brookhollow and her fiancé, Luke Dawson, twelve years earlier, Victoria Mason hasn't looked back. She's traded the small-town dream of marriage, kids and family Christmas dinners for late nights working at a high-powered acquisitions firm, lunches at trendy New York restaurants and jet-set vacations on the slopes. So her latest work assignment, to acquire Brookhollow's sporting-goods store, poses a challenge for Victoria, in more ways than one. Because it's almost Christmas, and she's got other holiday plans. And the owner is reluctant to sell. And the owner is Luke. She needs to wrap up the deal before she gets caught up in her old life and her old love…or becomes trapped under the mistletoe. Again. |
Friendship is overrated, if you ask her
She's always just been one of the guys...until she falls in love with one of the guys. Except Bailey Sheppard has carried a torch for firefighter Ethan Bishop since high school. And now that his long-term girlfriend has left him brokenhearted, she's free to go after what she's always wanted. Not that Ethan sees Bailey as anything but a friend. A best friend maybe, but still not a woman he'd be interested in. Pining for his ex has made him blind to the possibility of happiness with anyone else.... But can Ethan resist a woman who knows what she wants?
I LOVE this book! I literally could not put it down. I normally prefer romances with, well, more of an edge to them (namely bad words and steamy love scenes). This book had neither, but what it lacked in those areas was more than made up for in the emotions department.
Bailey is the perfect heroine; she is feminine and yet has a skill set that crosses both genders, what with being a motorcycle-riding-MMA-teaching-car-mechanic. She isn't too "I don't need NO man" and she isn't too "makeup? What's Makeup?" The conflicts that arose between Bailey and Ethan almost had me in tears at parts. I just can;t believe how much Jennifer Snow made me FEEL while reading this book! Jennifer created a set of characters that makes me want to move to Brookhollow and become best friends with each and every one of them. I am ECSTATIC that there are more books in this series! While it is not necessary to read these books in order, I'm looking forward to reading The Trouble with Mistletoe to learn the back-story of Victoria and Luke, who both appeared frequently in this book. |
Can she be his cure for writer's block?
For New York novelist Logan Walters, falling for the girl next door was more than a cliche. It was a calamity! If Leigh Norris hadn't been so attractive, and hadn't been hammering relentlessly while he was trying to write, Logan would never have ascended her rickety ladder in a misguided mix of gallantry and frustration. And he wouldn't have a broken wrist--or a guilty new assistant who can't type. Clearly, his escape to the Brookhollow B and B was not going to be the quiet, idyllic retreat he needed to finish his overdue manuscript. But it was fast becoming much more interesting than expected....
That's it! I'm moving to Brookhollow!
True to form, this book by Jennifer Snow is truly heartwarming. This is the second book I have read of the Brookhollow story set, and I have loved both of them! Every character, major or minor, is someone who I would want to be friends with. While the characters are wonderful to read, the conflict written into this story is pretty intense. Leigh's struggle to achieve that which she had wanted most in her life is quire emotional. While (thankfully) I have never experienced Leigh's situation, Jennifer did a great job of making it so easy to empathize with Leigh. Logan has a little bit of an edge to him, which was a nice addition to the story. The injection of characters like him makes the story more believable, and a nice contrast to the more wholesome surroundings. The interactions between Leigh and Logan were spread out perfectly throughout the story. I eagerly turned the pages, so excited to see their next encounter and how their feelings for each other evolved. Jennifer threw in a few twists that I was NOT expecting, especially towards the end. Speaking of endings, this one definitely left me smiling and looking forward to, hopefully, another glimpse into the lives of more Brookhollow residents! ***A copy of this book was provided in exchange for an honest review*** |
'Tis the season of forgiveness
but can she ever forget?
Brad Monroe was truly unbelievable. Blowing back into Brookhollow for three days to film a Christmas special—three years after the accident that killed his best friend her husband—and expecting Melody to be civil? Please. He'd been the only one who'd survived the tragedy, hightailing it to Nashville and hijacking her dream Patrick's dream. She'd spent that time grieving, working three jobs, struggling to raise her boys and keep a roof over their heads. Now she was losing ground on all fronts, and not about to forgive and forget. Or give him the one thing that could save them all . |
