Running from a soul mate she’s never even met.
If only she hadn’t been hired as a merch girl for the hottest indie band on earth.
If only she’d never laid eyes on its front man, Emil—intense, sexy, and so unlike the men of her culture.
If only she hadn’t fallen onto his lips, then into his bed.
If only her flame hadn’t exploded into a full-on forest fire.
If only Emil’s heart didn’t belong to someone else.
***
Emil is running. Running from a broken heart.
Running from who he was with her.
If only Zoe hadn’t left.
If only Aishe hadn’t been right there.
If only she hadn’t been so damn gorgeous—insistent—different.
If only he could control himself around her.
If. Only.
Sunniva is BRILLIANT!!!
This is not the typical contemporary romance. None of Sunniva's books are. Which is why I LOVE reading them!
This is one of those creatively brilliant works in that it shows light by showing darkness; much of the book dealt with some dark, heavy issues, but it made the ending that much brighter.
I was intrigued from the beginning with Aishe's mysterious "affliction." I eagerly turned the pages to find what it was all about. And Sunniva didn't disappoint. In fact, this whole book was an absolute page-turner because situations just kept popping up and I HAD to know how the book ended!
While I absolutely appreciate and applaud the direction in which Sunniva took this story, I can't say it was my absolute favorite. Without spoiling, there is definitely a Happily Ever After (several, actually), but another's ending was not as happy as it could have been, nor was the broken road that everyone had to take to get there.
Typing this now, I wonder if maybe the aforementioned "not as happily ever after" is the premise for an upcoming book? Because holy moly, that book will be AMAZING!!! (I got a taste of what that book might possibly be in this book, and it will be SMOKING HOT and emotionally intense!!!)
I am 100% Team Sunniva. This book is addicting and I've never read anything like it. I am a hardcore Clown Irruption groupie and I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK!!!!!!!!

I’m in a foul mood. We’re traveling tonight, finally, but Bo and Nadia are whispering in their back lounge suite of the tour bus. For once he’s not consoling her.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea,” Nadia says, keeping it quiet because I’m right outside. I hate to be kept in the dark. There are things I don’t want to be bothered with, sure, but the choice should be mine.
“You know how she is, darling. It’s not like you can stop her. She’ll be here whether you want it or not, and honestly, it’ll be good. She’ll be of comfort to you.”
Nadia hushes him. “What about… it’s going to be horrible for…”
Bo gets up and shuts the door, literally in my face. What the fuck? Now I have to turn the light on in the bunk area. I was relying on daylight from the lounge to see what I’m throwing into my dirty laundry bag. While eavesdropping.
“Zoe,” I hear from in there. “Dot, dot, something-something, dot.”
Goddammit! I slam the door back open and glare at the two of them. “Zee’s flying out?”
There’s that silence again. Bo veils himself in studious unresponsiveness, but Nadia’s got deer-in-headlights eyes. She opens and closes her mouth. Then she opts for grabbing her frilly little home-crocheted blanket and pulling it tighter around her.
“Bo. Nadia. If Zoe’s coming out—” I can’t finish what I’m thinking. I want it so damn bad. “Is she? Because I want her to.”
“No, she isn’t,” Nadia murmurs, dark eyes concerned beneath her lashes.
Bo sends her an apologetic glance before returning to me. “Yeah. She is. I’m buying her a ticket.”
Nadia draws in a deep breath, irises floating in moisture. “Babe, it’s better that I head back home. I could hang out with Zoe during her off-weekend. It’d be the same price since you’re paying either way. Plus I’d water our plants.”
And then I’m witness to them staring deeply into each other’s eyes, both wanting and needing the best for the other. It’s so fucking—
Okay, I am glad for them. I love them both like siblings, but sometimes it’s hard to take in when someone flaunts so readily what you lack in your own life.
“I want her to come out,” I repeat. There’s some tiny animal in my throat talking for me. I sound… not like myself.
“Shit,” Nadia says, which isn’t her at all. “See what you’re doing, Bo?” Her expression tightens as she meets my stare, braver than she was a moment ago.
“Emil, if she ends up coming out this weekend, it’s only because she wants to keep me company.”

Between studies, teaching, and advising, Sunniva has spent her entire adult life in a college environment. Most of her novels are new adult romance geared toward smart, passionate readers with a love for eclectic language and engaging their brain as well as their heart while reading.
Born in the Land of the Midnight Sun, the author spent her early twenties making the world her playground. Southern Europe: Spain, Italy, Greece--Argentina: Buenos Aires, in particular. The United States finally kept her interest, and after half a decade in Los Angeles, she now lounges in the beautiful city of Savannah.
Sometimes, Sunniva writes with a paranormal twist (Shattering Halos, Stargazer, and Cat Love). At other times, it's contemporary (Pandora Wild Child, Leon's Way, Adrenaline Crush, Walking Heartbreak, and Dodging Trains, coming in late March 2016).
This author is the happiest when her characters let their emotions run off with them, shaping her stories in ways she never foresaw. She loves bad-boys and good-boys run amok, and like in real life, her goal is to keep the reader on her toes until the end of each story.
