Legend of the Forest by Raquel Gabrielle ๐Ÿ’• Book Bliz and Signed Book Prize Pack Giveaway ๐Ÿ’• (Spicy Romantasy)

The tension between them boils over, until they can no longer ignore the undeniable connection between them.

Mia has always been drawn to the unusual, a fascination that’s made her an outcast. The world beyond their wall is shrouded in mystery, with few stories to go on—mostly fairy tales or fragments about the Old Ones. No one other than the guards dare to venture into the woods, and those who have don’t return the same, if at all.

When a creature is captured in town, it sparks a chain of events that brings more dangers from the edges of the forest—some friendly, some not. As Mia helps the creature escape, she never expects to journey into the dark woods and unravel secrets beyond her wildest imagination.

There, she meets Haddox, a golden, irresistible man who offers passion and freedom like she’s never known. Then there’s Grey, his polar opposite—stoic, mysterious, and a constant thorn in her side. The tension between them boils over, until they can no longer ignore the undeniable connection between them.

From Haddox's point of view

Haddox looked down at the slight form bundled in his arms. She was so small compared to him, and she was to be their next warrior. Frowning, his eyes scanned their surroundings, searching for threats. They were on the edge of the dark woods. None of their kind traveled this far out anymore. Her village didn’t take too kindly to others, especially after they had to take that other woman. The animals had warned them to be on the lookout.

She would have to do, and this time he would make sure she would like and enjoy their kind, so she would help them. She would not throw the game by ending her life, not like the last one.

You started all this.

His thoughts turned dark as he remembered what he had done. What was the forest thinking when choosing their warriors?

He rolled his eyes and stomped over to Grey, who was leaning against the tree.

“Is that?” Grey broke off as Haddox shoved the girl into his arms.

“Here.” Haddox shuddered. He cracked his neck to the side. He would have to be close to her all too soon. “Let me check things out to make sure there aren’t guards around or anyone missing this one. You get her back to the temple.” Part of him hated what he would have to do.

“You said you would watch over her,” Grey complained, trying to hand her back.

“And I will. See to her till I get back.” This was all Grey’s fault, anyway. If it wasn’t for him, they wouldn’t be in this predicament now. Now he had to play nice with one of their kind and make it believable.

Grey grumbled, holding her body close to his. He waited. “Did she disturb anything?”

Haddox stepped forward, pausing between the stones before entering the circle. He held up a hand, pressing on the barrier to test. “I think we are safe.” His hand encountered an unseen obstacle, causing him to take a step back.

Bloo jumped up, snapping at Grey. Growling and barking incessantly, he circled his legs. He leaped up at Grey. “Friend?” Bloo wailed.

Grey bit his teeth at the little mongrel. “Your friend is going to go take some tests. She can’t play with you anymore.”

“What is one of those doing this far out?” Haddox asked.

“I don’t know. This one is young, though. He seems attached to the woman.”

Haddox took the bow and arrow he carried from his shoulder and pulled it over his head. Stringing an arrow, he held it at the ready. “You’ve heard the human tales. They do things for no reason. Maybe they are keeping them as pets now.”

“Why is she even out here? Don’t they all stay behind the wall?” Grey asked, ignoring Haddox’s disdain.
