I walk towards the light streaming through the trees. I swear
when I reach up to put my hand in the golden beam of bright
yellow and orange. I could feel the warmth. I almost wanted to
bathe in it. I wept like a baby. I dropped to my knees and just
wanted to thank the alien mother for such a remarkable gift.
My joy would be short-lived. As I turn to call Alex and Iva to
enjoy this monumental event with me. My beloved was being held
high in the air by Darius.
“Not Alex you piece of shit!” I yell at him.
He was holding her by her throat in the air. I know his
strength and even now in a semi-weak state, he could kill her in an
instant. Jackie raced towards him but was met with his free hand.
He tosses her across the cemetery. She lands thankfully on the soft
ground. Two inches away from a five-foot-wide marble
tombstone, that would have split her open in two.
The member’s fangs come out and I dash over to him. The
device that was placed on his thigh was now lying on the ground
broken. The black poison inside spilled on the ground. I was two
feet away.
“Darius, if you ever loved me, put her down now! I beg you.”
“Come back to me Midnight. I love you. We can start anew. I
will let her go if you would only return to me. Be by my side.”
I was sick inside, but my Alex was so precious to me. The
alien mother just stood by and watched this whole thing happen. I
knew she had the power to kill Darius! What was stopping her
from attacking him? I start to walk closer. He cautions me to be
careful and to make my decision quickly. I look at Adamina who
looks back at me. She was trying to talk to me telepathically, but
she was blocked! I turned my attention back to Darius. Iva was
growing impatient. I could feel her anger.
“Don’t Iva. He’s too strong!”
She says, “Bullshit!”
She started for him. I race over towards them both. He pulls
Alex towards him and starts to rip her throat apart.
I screamed. “No! Please!”
By the time all the members got to him….
Alex aka Alexis is second in command in Midnight's coven. A Vampyir to be reckoned with. Alex loves Women and sex. But most of all, Blood. The plague is in its infancy stage. Alex soon discovers that the club she built from the ground up must shut down until further notice. Alex is beyond concerned. For the first time in her Vampyir life, she is frightened. It seems the Vampyir Plague is gaining momentum and the fight to stay alive (or in the case of the Vampyir, staying un-dead.) is at an all-time high. Here within these pages you will be taken on a ride through Alex's eyes. Her travels range from the plantation she was born on in the deep south to the underground caves inside Mount Rushmore. Along the way, Alex discovers that a Vampyir's life is not all what it seems. Especially when faced with a virus that could give her and her kind the Ultimate Death!
Darlene Burns grew up in Los Angeles, California. She attended L.A.Valley College to study Oceanography, but realized her true passion was creative writing and telling a good story. "I come from a family of talented women. So even though I put off my dreams of writing to raise my children, I challenged myself to become one of those women that I so admire. So after my children were old enough, I returned to writing. My true passion is reading and researching all elements regarding the supernatural. I fell in love with the old movies featuring Vincent Price and Bela Lugosi. I hope that you enjoy my work as much as I enjoyed writing it."
