Beast by J.A. Wynters 💕 Q and A, Book Tour & Gift Card Giveaway 💕 (Fairy Tale Retelling)

Falling out of a window didn't hurt as much as falling for her.
Tove Savage.
When the most beautiful girl in the world treats you like her dirty little secret, you’re reminded that beasts are meant to live in the dark.
Tove used me to get back at her boyfriend, breaking something inside that left a scar far deeper and uglier than the one marring my face.
Three years later Tove arrives at my hospital broken and without her memories.
So, what am I meant to do? Try to forget how much I love her or exact my revenge?
BEAST is a twisted Beauty and the Beast retelling.
Beauty is more than skin deep.

What are your top 10 favorite books/authors?
Oh god there are too many

What book do you think everyone should read?
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

How long have you been writing?
Since I first held a pen in my hand.

What kind of research do you do before you begin writing a book?
Depends on the content of the book – I always try and stay true to medical conditions and the like to ensure realism and authenticity – if I have particular places or areas I make sure I capture them – it depends.

Do you see writing as a career?
That would be the dream

Do you read yourself and if so what is your favorite genre?
I like suspense, thriller and romance but also loads of dystopian and speculative friction.

Do you prefer to write in silence or with noise? Why?

Silence – it’s the only way I hear the voices

Do you write one book at a time or do you have several going at a time?
One book at a time – I would like to give each book my full attention.

Pen or type writer or computer?

Pen or computer – depends where I am and if the muse hits – phone sometimes too – I have a portable keyboard for my phone.

A day in the life of the author?

Wake up
Corral the kids
Check on the sales from the previous night – shed a few tears
Coffee
Drop the kids off
Coffee
Sit in front of the computer – get sucked into social media for a number of hours
Swear
Coffee
Look at the blank screen and question every decision you ever made
More tears – they fall into your coffee
You write – sometime a lot sometimes a little – either way you hate all of it and hope it will burn in hell
Coffee
After a break you read over things again and think you may have a hope and it doesn’t ALL suck – not all of it.
You grab the kids – cause no one else wants them – chaperone them around to sports – seems you gotta feed them and shower them too.
You eat
More coffee
You put everyone to bed and look at what you wrote before – this time you don’t cry – you keep that pain inside and use it to write something you can work with.
You check the time – it’s waaaayyyy to late
You get sucked into Facebook again
More swearing
You go to bed and read for an hour – cause you know – research and also you love it.
You[‘re about to fall asleep and your brain remembers that plot twist you were going to write that afternoon.
Fall asleep with the phone in your hand and your pillow stained with tears.

Advice they would give new authors?

Write write and write some more - I know it’s easy to fall into the cookie cutter crowd – yes we want to make money so taking a story already written and writing it again and again and again cause that’s what popular – you can do that – or you can feed your soul break the mold and write stuff you love cause guarantee the stuff you love to write will always be a million times better than the stuff you think you need to write.

What makes a good story?

Good solid characters that you want to root for, or hate or, love a story that makes you feel anything at all – that’s what makes a good story.

What is your writing process? For instance do you do an outline first? Do you do the chapters first?

Panster or die – I tried the whole plotting thing – I guess some things are just not for me.

Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?

I think you need a fine balance – be as original as you can but try and fall into a genre that people like reading. I’, not a fan of the cookie cutter crowd – retelling the same story over and over – I know some troupes are more popular than others but I feel like once I read one I don’t need to read another hundred. Of course, that is all personal – some people love reading the same type of story.

If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?

Start earlier – be braver.

What’s the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?

The fact that you will never really truly know what they are thinking or feeling. You can guess – and some people are better at that than others – but you will never truly know.

How long on average does it take you to write a book?

About a month,

Do you believe in writer’s block?

Of course.
